Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) Manufacturing

01
01 | Raw Material Dosing & Charging

Glycols, saturated anhydrides, and unsaturated anhydrides are precisely weighed and loaded into the main reactor kettle under an inert nitrogen blanket.

02
Polycondensation / Cooking

The reaction mixture is heated to 180°C–220°C under continuous agitation, releasing water vapor as a byproduct through a fractionating column.

03
Vacuum Condensation & Testing

Vacuum pressure strips residual moisture and volatile monomers while laboratory testing verifies target acid value and viscosity.

04
Cooling & Inhibitor Addition

The batch is rapidly cooled to stop polycondensation, and hydroquinone inhibitors are added to prevent premature polymer cross-linking.

05
Blending & Styrene Dilution

The molten polyester base is transferred into a thinning tank pre-filled with styrene monomer (30–40%) under controlled low temperatures.

06
Filtration & Packaging

Specialty additives or promoters are incorporated, followed by fine mesh filtration and transfer into steel drums, IBC totes, or bulk tankers.

    General Questions

    01. What is poly resin used for?

It is a versatile liquid polymer used for fiberglass laminates, casting, molding, composite doors, and structural reinforcements.

Mix with 1% to 2% MEKP catalyst by weight, adjusting based on ambient temperature and required gel time.

Clean off dirt and oils, sand smooth areas with 120–220 grit sandpaper for bonding, and wipe dry.

Keep in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry place (18°C–25°C) away from direct sunlight and ignition sources.

    Customer Feedback

    High Quality & Consistency

The batch-to-batch consistency of this poly resin is outstanding. We use it for our composite molding lines, and it provides smooth flow, minimal air entrapment, and an exceptional final finish every time.
